Why Inspiration Matters
For me, inspiration is one of the most essential aspects of life. It needs to be nurtured, cultivated, and given space to grow. How we find inspiration varies from person to person and often depends on the purpose for which we need it. This is why Vision Boards have become so popular—they provide a dedicated space to gather and visualize our inspirations.
We'll be hosting a Living Vision Board workshop this fall, and I’ll share more about it in future posts and articles. But for now, let's explore how inspiration manifests in our lives.

Recognizing Inspiration in Everyday Life
A great starting point is paying attention to how your body responds to inspiration. Have you ever heard a song come on and instantly felt the urge to dance? That’s an inspiration on a physical level. Or maybe you’ve watched someone jogging past while driving and suddenly felt motivated to get more active. Inspiration often moves through us before we even recognize it.
Beyond movement, inspiration can be intensely emotional or visual. Have you ever been on a walk in nature and felt completely captivated by a sunset? The colours, the shifting clouds, the breeze on your skin—these moments of awe are potent sources of creative energy.
At times, inspiration comes from a call to action—perhaps a current event sparks a deep desire to make a difference, speak up, or participate in something bigger than oneself. No matter how it arrives, inspiration fuels our motivation, creativity, and willingness to try new things.
The key is to slow down, look, listen, and feel. When we intentionally make space for inspiration, it becomes a guiding force in our lives.

How to Cultivate More Inspiration
Inspiration is all around us—in music, movies, books, art, movement, and mindfulness. One of my greatest joys is inspiring others in any way I can because I know firsthand how transformative it can be.
For me, travel is one of the most powerful ways to rekindle my inspiration. In the past, I thought travel had to mean big trips, but I’ve come to realize that local adventures can be just as enriching. This year, I’m dedicating weekly “Inspiration Days” to exploring hiking trails, beaches, and small undiscovered villages—places close to home that offer new perspectives and fresh energy.
Just like a fire needs fuel to keep burning, inspiration needs regular nourishment.
Here are a few simple ways you can invite more inspiration into your life:
Love gardening? Visit nearby gardens or botanical spaces.
Are you an artist? Read books, watch films, or attend exhibitions outside your usual interests.
Enjoy dance? Take a class, watch performances, or simply move freely to music.
Passionate about cooking? Try a new recipe, take a class, or explore a different cuisine.
The possibilities are endless when we intentionally create space for inspiration.
Top 10 Easy Tips for Encouraging Creative Inspiration
1. Create a Ritual for Creativity
Light a candle, brew a special tea, or play instrumental music to set the mood before you begin. Rituals signal your brain that it’s time to create.
2. Surround Yourself with Beauty
Design an inspiring workspace with colours, textures, and objects that spark joy. A simple rearrangement can shift energy and open new creative pathways.
3. Play with New Media
If you write, try painting. If you sew, try journaling. Exploring different forms of creativity expands your perspective and unlocks fresh ideas.
4. Step Away & Daydream
Inspiration often arrives when you’re doing something unrelated—taking a walk, showering, or staring at the sky. Give your mind space to wander.
5. Use Constraints to Fuel Innovation
Challenge yourself with creative limits—design with only three colours, write within a certain timeframe, or repurpose materials. Boundaries often push creative thinking.
6. Collect & Curate Inspiration
Keep a sketchbook, Pinterest board, or folder of quotes, images, and textures that speak to you. Revisiting these collections can reignite inspiration.
7. Engage in Freewriting or Sketching
Set a timer for five minutes and create without judgment. Doodles, random words, or messy sketches—it all counts! This clears mental blocks and invites spontaneity.
8. Seek Inspiration from Other Art Forms
Listen to music, watch a documentary, visit a gallery, or read poetry. Immersing yourself in different artistic expressions can spark unexpected ideas.
9. Collaborate & Converse
Engage in conversations with other creatives. Bouncing ideas off someone else can open new doors you wouldn’t have considered alone.
10. Trust Your Creative Cycles
Creativity isn’t linear. Some days are for making, others for resting. Honour your natural flow—pauses are part of the process, not failures.
